Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, Napa Valley, California, United States: Vintages Wine Panel: Proving that the best Napa Cabs can be built to age, this firmly tannic number is impressive now yet will really shine after 3-6 years in a cellar. Aromas of cassis, cedar boughs, woodsmoke, rum-raisin syrup and roasted tomato. Dry, robustly juicy, and brought into perfect balance by powerful tannin structure. Full bodied with a very long, elegant finish. If you’re looking to try it sooner rather than later, decant and savour. My note: Classic California Cabernet. Cassis and blackberry with a good tannic grip. Decant 2 hours +. Drink: 2012-2018. 718452 14.50% D 750 mL $142.00 Score: 90/100. December 10, 2011 Full Review
