Natalie's Score: 93/100 Magnificent! What a towering example of what Chile is capable of producing in rich, concentrated and complex red wines. There's lots of fleshy black fruit here but also vibrancy and lift from the cool climate where the grapes are grown. Perfect for rare filet mignon.
Shiraz food pairings: Filet mignon, beef brisket, herbed rack of lamb with grilled portobello mushrooms.

Malcolm Lamont - WSET Adv, CSW rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review: La Cumbra, or 'Summit' as Winemaker Francisco explains pulls from the best hilltop Syrah lots of Errazuriz, some of which grown in 1993! Ruby red in colour, it shows warm red fruit and baking spices. Oak and more sweet spices play a role as well. Wow! On the palate everything works together in harmony, again made up of warm red fruit and sweet baking spices. Unfortunately this one is not available in our market. Tasted September 26, 2013

Winemaker Francisco Baettig was passionate about this vision for this wine from vine to bottle. Rich in flavours - vanilla, figs, nutmeg, cloves, pepper, chocolate - it is divine on the nose and even more so on the palate. Drink now or a wonderful addition to your cellar - continuing to age beautifully through 2020.
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review: Made from 30% coastal grapes (cooler climate), 70% inland (hotter climate). 20 month aging in 100% new. Aging potential, according to winemaker, is about 10 years. (drink in 2018) Rich ripe fruit, vanilla, Cassis, fig, dark cherry, milk chocolate , a little peppery. Wine is very well-balance with mouthwatering acidity while still retaining richness. Some spices showing through as it sits: clove and anise.

Made from a blend of coastal Syrah and interior Syrah and 20 months in new oak this dark beauty has 10+ years of aging according to the winemaker Franciso Baettig. Full bodied and still showing young in the glass with purple tint over deep ruby. Candied cherry compote, red licorice, vanilla, fig, prune(?), pepper and spice box. Tannins are soft. This wine is elegant and supple and deserves it's own chair at the table. And yes, I starred(*) it Yummy!

This is a wine that you can really enjoy smelling...that is, until you taste it and then you just have to give in to a sensual palate of dark red fruit, sweet spice, subtle oak, ripe strawberries and a hint of cognac. A well-balanced wine with velvety mouthfeel and soft tannins. Will age for >15 years. Tell Santa to bring a case!

Beautiful delicate nose of dark berries, baking spices, dark chocolate, and black pepper. Imagine a gourmet gingerbread cookie dipped in fine (bitter) dark chocolate...yes, it is that tasty! The mouthfeel is creamy, soft, and supple, with very fine well integrated tannins. This is a tremendously well executed Syrah. All the components work in harmony to deliver a perfectly balanced wine worthy of 10 years of cellaring but why wait as it's performing exceptionally well now.
Composition: 97% Syrah 3% Petit Verdot This vintage presents a slight stylistic change in our La Cumbre Syrah because for the first time it includes fruit from our Max VI and Aconcagua Costa vineyards, which has a livelier profile that is more mineral and aromatic, a bit spicier and more floral, with a fresher palate due to the higher acidity levels. It shows a beautiful violet colour, and an impressive nose with aromas of red fruit such as cranberries, raspberries, and cherries, all accompanied by light notes of black pepper, caramel, cloves, and violets. On the palate, the flavours echo the nose and offers up plenty of red and black fruit, black pepper, sweet spices, delicate toasted notes, and a bit of cedar along with elegant structure, fine tannins, and plenty of nerve that allude to its excellent potential for aging in the bottle.
