Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I starred this wine(*)in my tasting notes as "Yummy". This SB has lots of layered compexity and the greenery I personally like to smell and taste in Sauv Blancs. Brilliant pale straw, medium body, fresh acidity. Tomato plant, herbal, citrus on the nose. Palate offers some tropical fruit, sweet spice and a creamy texture. Malo? From the Valle Aconcagua.
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Wonderfully intense with an intentional green side. Green herb, tomato leaf and a light floral aroma. Winemaker harvested early to ensure bright acidity and herbaceous aromas. Palate has tropical fruit notes of lime, pineapple, and mango. Some sur lie aging adds a creaminess that softens the acidity. Lingering finish.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Great Sauvignon Blanc at a great price point. Many layers, wonderful nose - hints of citrus fruit, grassy and herbaceous. Bursting with flavor on the palate and could stand up to SB's that are double its price. Fresh and crispy, representative of the region.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A crisp, intense and nervy SB grown from clones brought from France. On the nose, herbaceous, fruity with citrus-lime, more fruit on palate. High acidity.
Malcolm Lamont - WSET Adv, CSW rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The Max Reserva Sauvignon Blanc is equally pale in colour to its sister wine The Estate S.B., with certain green hues.

More present aromas with greener earthy notes coming out. Tomato leaves, and slight earthiness notes are balanced by the citrus fruit, and minerality.
A more full mouthfeel on the palate with repeating flavours.

Full marks for complexity and character in this wine!

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The Errazuriz 2012 Max Reserva Sauvignon Blanc from Chile's Manzanar vineyard only 12kms from the Pacific Ocean delivers all the goodness one would expect from a $20-$30 Sauvignon Blanc but at a fraction of the price.

Stylistically what you'd expect from a coastal region Sauvignon Blanc, it offers layers of exotic fruit, hearbaceous notes, citrus, green apple, mint, and loads of minerality (from the schist rock under the vineyards), making this a great wine to pair with any combination of the following: smoked salmon, mint, cucumber, goat cheese, fresh fennel, green apple, or put them all together and make a delicious anise-flavored sandwich.
Dan Carkner reviewed this wine as follows:

Aromas of fresh asparagus and tomato leaf combine with melon, apricot and wildflower honey to provide a pleasant balance of fruit and fresh vegetal characters. The palate confirms the nose with the addition of ripe pineapple and pink grapefruit. This wine is crisp and lively yet surprisingly full bodied. A lusciously creamy mouthfeel is achieved through lees stirring in tank. Sound varietal character is displayed here and the wine finishes with lingering acidity and honey drizzled pink grapefruit
Tasting Notes
A pale greenish-yellow colour. This is a very lush wine, intensely
aromatic with an abundant of tropical fruit such as guava and
passion fruit; perfectly balanced with the mineral notes and
herbal tones so typical of top-end Sauvignon Blanc.
