A robust, juicy Italian red wine that uses the appassimento method to dry grapes before fermentation to concentrate flavour and weight in the finished wine. Aromas of dark tart cherry, smoke and dried herbs. Pair with pasta and tomato sauce.

Food pairings: roast beef, meat lover's pizza topped with steak, meaty pasta in tomato sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Just on the ripeness level and power of flavours this wine is an easy recommend for me. However, when you add a couple of things unexpected from Veneto (hint of oak, hint of tannins) it becomes easier. Buy it - love it.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This Rosso Veronese gives dark berries, vanilla and sweet cherries on the nose, with lots of ripe cherries on a juicy palate. Hints of chocolate and vanilla carry through, too. A good option with pasta in meat sauce, or juicy hamburgers.
Tasted August 2018
From Zenato, Alanera 2014 is a well-balanced blend of Merlot and Corvina red wine grapes from the Veneto wine region. Look for ripe dark berries, dark chocolate, nut and spice flavours on this so easy to enjoy full-bodied red --great value as well under $20. - Community Wine Reviews
