Produced by Peter Fraser, a robust single-vineyard estates Shiraz from the McLaren Vale region with 50% whole berries added to the destemmed fruit which was open-fermented with wild yeasts and matured in previous use French oak barrels. Spicy with smoked meat, cracked pepper, minty and dark chocolate flavours on the palate. A lot going on here. Pair with a smoked beef brisket. This single vineyard estate is situated in the cooler, elevated northeast region of the McLaren Vale with 12 individual blocks of Shiraz vines planted in ironstone and sand soils that overlie the ancient North Maslin Sands geological formation.

Shiraz food pairings: hamburgers, steak, hearty meat dishes, hard cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

From the Mclaren Vale wine region, Yangarra 2016 is a mouth-watering Shiraz, dry, full-bodied with bright blackberry, cracked pepper, minty, savoury herb and spicy flavours on the palate. This Shiraz is 50% whole berry fermented with wild yeasts and aged 10 months in previous use French oak barrels. Excellent now and for the next 15 years. Pair with grilled steaks all around. - Community Wine Reviews
