Plush black plum aromas give this wine a luscious mouth-filling character and juiciness before an incoming tide of peppered darker fruit that creates a lovely bite. Full-bodied and voluptuous. Drink now if you decant for 2 hours or hold it in your cellar for a decade or more. Incredible richness, depth and concentration. Demands hearty meat dishes. This is a blend of 65% Grenache and the remainder equal parts Mourvèdre and Syrah grapes. Loaded with purple and black plums and liquorice on the finish.

Châteauneuf-Du-Pape food pairings: prime rib, wild game, cherry and wine-reduction sauces.

The 2011 vintage of this southern French red wine from Chateauneuf du Pape is a full-bodied blend of 55% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre and 15% Syrah. Plush black plum, liquorice and dried herbs on the nose -- perhaps thyme and sage. Juicy fruit and good acidity and only 13.5% alcohol. Amazing for a Pape. Tannins are firm so decant for two hours before serving, or hold for a few more years to savour then. - Community Wine Reviews
