Xavier's 2017 vintage of Muscat de Beaumes de Venise is produced from Muscat and Muscat spirit, in a process called "mutage" from the Southern Rhone. Unlike icewine, don't overchill this vin doux naturel to experience its lovely tropical fruit, soft orange citrus and delicate cake spice flavours on the palate. Enjoy while fresh with fresh fruit desserts.

AOP White Rhone food pairings: intense, ripe cheeses, dark chocolate, saffron pear tarte.

Reviews and Ratings

Jay Denney rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Wow! A fantastic value dessert wine from the Rhone. Intense aromas of white grape, stonefruit, and raisins. Excellent mouthfeel with flavours of orange, raising and spice coating the tastebuds and staying for a awhile. I'd gladly put this up against some Barsacs and Sauternes that are 2-3x the price of this gem.
Muscat De Beaumes De Venise from the Rhône wine region is a Vin doux naturel made in a method called "Mutage", where grape spirit added to the wine to stop the fermentation process, killing the yeast with increased alcohol but keeping a natural level of sweetness in this dessert wine. This one produced by Xavier is always lovely and rich with floral, grapey notes, citrus and soft orange flavours on the palate. Well-priced under $20. - Community Wine Reviews
