Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

They used to call Chile the "Bordeaux of the southern hemisphere". This wine shows this. Quite Bordeaux like in power, dryness and structure. One deviation might be kind of a chocolate-herb note on the nose. A touch of tannins on the palate with an herbal replay makes this quite a value against some Bordeaux in recent years. Clean and modern for Chile, while evoking some old-world memories.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Great concentration of flavours. Aromas of red currant, blackberry, graphite, eucalyptus and a hint of pepper. Full bodied and smooth, fruit and berry flavours are ripe, with medium tannins and some herbaceous and mineral notes. Enjoy with a grilled steak.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

From William Fevre Winery, located in the Maipo Valley in Chile, comes the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Espino Gran Cuvee. This Andes Cabernet Sauvignon grows 800m from sea level and offers rich aromas of black cherry, cranberry, black pepper, graphite, coffee and oak. At high altitudes, the sun’s intensity increases, which causes grapes to develop thicker skins. This results in an increased concentration of tannins and a higher natural acidity level that is essential for wines with ageing potential. Full-bodied with delicious tannins, the Gran Cuvee Espino shows flavors of ripe cranberry, juicy black cherry, black pepper, mocha, toffee and oak. Enjoy!
William Fèvre Chile Espino Gran Cuvée 2014 is a 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Cabernet Franc juicy red wine blend produced from grapevines planted in 1997 at Las Majadas, 720 metres above sea level in Pirque. Lots of bright, fresh berry fruit here with ripe cherry flavours and oak spice notes. Finishes long with more fresh berry fruit and great acidity for food. Tannins are supple. - Community Wine Reviews
