Wakefield's Merlot from wine grapes sourced from the Clare Valley is spicy on the palate with cassis, cake spice, savoury herbs, pepper spice and minty flavours. Tannins are well-integrated and this full-bodied red is very approachable. Juicy crushed raspberry finish. Pair with grilled pork chops.

Merlot food pairings: grilled steak, pan-roasted beef filet and rösti potatoes, cheeseburgers, bitter-sweet chocolate, turkey.

Perry rated this wine as 91/100
Crazy value on this Merlot under $20. From the Clare Valley Wine Region in South Australia, this is a full-bodied beauty with dark plum, wild herbs and spicy aromas with more of same on the palate. Smoky, savoury and delicious. This vintage was awarded Silver at the 2018 Sommelier Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition. - Community Wine Reviews
