Natalie's Score: 90/100

From the Del Commune Di Serralunga D'alba, Piedmont wine region, a well-priced, fleshy Barolo made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. Earthy fresh mushroom, rose petals, bright red berry and anise aromas on the nose. Dry, mouth-watering with fresh red berry, cherry, sweet spice and mocha flavours warm and finishing long on the palate.

Barolo food pairings: meaty stews, roast gamebirds, meat lover's pizza topped with steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Rustic and classic styling on the nose with prominent notes of sour cherry, prune, anise, dried herbs, and tar. Huge grippy tannins, firm acidity, and full body. Palate and finish add leather, earthy, smoke, tobacco, and vanilla tones. The structure will allow this wine to age for another five to ten years, but the stage of evolution is excellent now. Allow a healthy decant and serve with big protein to get the best of this wine. I recommend a roast goose or rack of lamb, and a two to three hour decant.
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

A Nebbiolo varietal from d'Alba, northern Italy, this full-bodied wine has aromas of cherry and red berries with a red fruit palate. The tannins are still high so decant or age further. The finish is long and smooth. Serve with red meats. Tasted February 2020.
Produced by Commune Di Serralunga D'alba, Vite Colte Essenze 2013 is a well-priced, medium-plus-bodied Barolo made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. Lovely on the nose with earthy truffle, rose petal, dark cherry, chocolate and baking spice flavours on the palate. Maturing nicely with juicy red berry fruit, earthy florals, baking spice flavours balanced with vibrant acidity on the palate. Tannins are structured and fine. - Community Wine Reviews
