An excellent price for the 2007 Vinas Centenarias, a robust Spanish red wine made from the Tempranillo grape. Lots of black fruit and smoke. Pair with a rare steak and enjoy.

Reviews and Ratings

Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

August 22, 2014: Having picked up some of this same wine at Vintages October 29, 2011 release, it seemed fitting to revisit before being re-released Aug. 30, 2014. Medium ruby, wafts of fresh bread, berry, dried violet, earth and spice come from the glass. Medium body, red and black berry/cherry starting to show age, a touch of sour amongst toasty oak and spice on a long minerally/slight bitter tinged finish. Well balanced, still enough grip and structure to age several more years. Give this 30+ min to open up and pair with pasta with tomato sauce with sliced Italian sausage or herb crusted roast beef.
The 2007 vintage of the Vinas Centenarias produced by Bodegas Campina was matured in French and American oak barrels, some of which was new, some for 12 months. The vines for the Tempranillo grapes are more than 100 years old. and are gown in the village of Valdefinjas in the Toro region of northwest Spain. – Community Wine Reviews
