This Chilean single vineyard Syrah is rich and full-bodied with layers of fleshy black fruit aromas and flavours. Velvet smooth on the palate with a long satisfying finish. Pair with rack of lamb.

Syrah food pairings: game meats, rare roast beef, spice-braised lamb, cheddar, grilled pork chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Once you get past the nose on this baby (think diapers, or salami or dried olives might be a little more politically correct!) it really is a gorgeous, burly, flamboyant creature. Unctuous, rich, sweet spice, wild black raspberry, smokey, black cherry, allspice, pepper and a "very tiny hint of vanilla" (my notes). Long finish. I would sip this on its own or have with charcuterie.
Gwen Barton rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Vines from this single vineyard are grown in shallow, well-drained soils in the rolling hills near the Andes Mountains. Generous aromas of cherry, blueberry and liquorice with undertones of earth and tobacco. Rich, full mouthfeel with decent depth and complexity as fruit flavours and herbal notes come together. Pair with gruyere-based mac n cheese. Tasted: Nov 2018.
The wines from San Pedro's 1865 line come from its own vineyard planted with a specific variety. The Syrah comes from the winery's property in the Maule Valley, with rolling hillside vineyards averaging 20 years of age and planted in alluvial soil with angular stones to control plant vigour. - Community Wine Reviews
