Smoky with cigar box and wild truffles on the nose of this seductive, full-bodied northern Italian red wine. This baby could cellar another 5-7 years at least. Decant 1-2 years and enjoy with wild boar, risotto.

Brunello Di Montalcino food pairings: steak topped pizza, pasta in tomato sauce, baked vegetarian lasagne.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A nose of earth, plum, leather and herbs - the palate is full bodied and shows yummy flavors of licorice, cherry, raspberry, coffee amidst a swirling mouthful of big, bold tannins. Simply delicious. Perfect with pasta tossed in a homemade tomato sauce topped chopped basil and freshly shaved parmesan.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A phenomenal full-bodied cellar worthy Brunello di Montalcino with juicy and lingering red berries, allspice, pipe tobacco and hints of mocha notes. Tannins are moderate, still developing and balanced by delicious concentrated flavours, high acidity and a satiny mouthfeel. Enjoy with braised beef ravioli. From Villa Poggio Salvi (2011) , this Brunello Di Montalcino from the Tuscany wine region is ripe plum, dark spices and savour herbs on the palate finishing with coffee and a touch of anise. Lovely now and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews
