Natalie's Score: 92/100

Produced from 100% Sagrantino grapes, this is a robust, unfiltered Italian red wine intensely fragrant with ripe dark fruit, earthy and toasty aromas on the nose. Dry, full-bodied and with ripe dark fruits, dark cherry, grilled herbs and savoury spice flavours on the plate with excellent acidity for food. Tannins are grippy so decant two hours prior to pouring with a meaty stew or grilled venison steak. Enjoy now and for the next 10 years.

Sagrantino food pairings: pepper steak, roast leg of lamb with garlic and rosemary, roast pork tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

From the Umbria wine region, Villa Mora Montefalco 2010 is produced from 100% estate-grown Sagrantino wine grapes. Full-bodied, vibrant and unfiltered, it is a mouthful of blackberry compote, dried berry fruit, dark cherry, savoury herbs, spices and toasty oak spice. This is a beast and could easily cellar for another 10 years to show its best. Villa Mora ages this wine for five years before release. And still, the tannins are firm. If you can't wait, decant two hours prior to pouring with a game roast or meaty stew. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
