Pretty aromas of field strawberries tickle the nose and senses on this vibrant New Zealand rose. It's dry and delicate yet refreshing. It finishes with a touch of spice and sun-dappled berries. Pair with planked salmon. Serve chilled.

Reviews and Ratings

Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a rosé with some character! The floral aromas are followed by a mouthful of spicy strawberry. Great on its own or with a spicy Asian inspired dish.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A cheery and bright rose, crushed from Merlot and and Pinot Gris grapes. Aromas of cherry and vanilla carry through with ripe red cherry and strawberry flavours. A true artform: balancing sweet and tart in perfect harmony. Pair with salmon or turkey dinner.
Donna Hargrove rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This NZ Merlot/Pinot Gris blend is light pink in colour with aromas of strawberry and light notes of spice. This rose would be delicious served alone on a summer patio, or paired with a light flavoured fish. Tasted September 2015
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Villa Maria, from New Zealand's Hawkes Bay, is a leader in sustainable viniculture. This coral hued Rosé has strawberry and cranberry aromas, with citrus and herbal touches added on the palate. Crisp acidity and citrus finish.
Tasted April 2016
David Skinner rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Light pink. Full of fresh strawberry scents mixed with red cherry. More strawberry and a hint of spice come through on the palate. A light body and medium acidity make this wine perfect for a summer on the patio but would lend a hand to some plum and ricotta bruschetta fresh off the grill.

The wine was made from Merlot and Pinot Gris grapes crushed together. Then the fruit was soaked on the skins under carbon dioxide to prevent oxidation and then pressed and settled for 48 hours before fermentation.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This award winning Private Bin Rose has an abundance of wild strawberries and tart raspberries on the nose, lots of flavor, medium bodied and dry. The Merlot and Pinot Gris grapes make the beautiful salmon color...A nice sipping wine on the deck after a long day - easy food pairing - grilled cheese….
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Bright strawberry and floral aromas with a crisp, dry finish. This merlot and Pinot Gris blend from Hawkes Bay enjoyed a warm 2015 growing season resulting in fully ripened fruit with a beautiful bouquet of aromas and flavors. Would pair well with grilled chicken or salmon.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Watermelon and straberry galore! Aromas are very pronounced but with little complexity. The fruit is more on the candied side. Pleasant, easy drinking "brunchy" wine.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The 2015 vintage of Private Bin Rose, yields from Hawkes Bay and was produced from fully ripened Merlot and Pinot Gris fruit after a warm growing season. This wine is 12.5% ABV, 4.3gL residual sugar and 5.2gL total acidity. All parcels of fruit were crushed with Merlot then soaked on skins, pressed and settled for 48hours prior to racking clean juice to cool fermentation in stainless tanks. This rose offer dominant ripe strawberry juice aromatics with juicy acidity and off-dry sweetness. Medium-Long finish with persistence of strawberry shortcake. Versatile enough to pair well with a low sugar seasonal strawberry shortcake with whipped cream or asian fare. Paired well with a grilled chicken satay skewers. Ready to enjoy now.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A tasty Merlot/Pinot Gris Rose with primary aromas of strawberry marshmallows, rose petals, cantaloupe, and hay. The taste is centred around apricot with a spicy aspect to it as well. Good acidity, and a nice freshness. Try this with a salad of bitter greens and fruit.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier reviewed this wine as follows:

Award winning Villa Maria's Private Bin Rose shows sweet strawberry shortcake and confected red berry notes, along with crisp green apple. It's fun and lively and ideally suited for patio season. Tasted September 2015. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
