Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Chewy dark plum, blackberry, strawberry, red peppercorn and anise. Wonderful, densely concentrated, well balanced medium plus fruit, alcohol (14%), silky integrated tannins. Pairs well with hearty protein rich dishes and equally well with mouthwatering bbq fare. Fantastic BC Syrah. Tasted the 2013 vintage in July 2017 decanted an hour. This BC wine is sold in Ontario for 33$ and in homeland BC for 48$. Interesting choice of origin strategy. I'm glad to have tasted the bottle from Ontario. 92 points. BespokeTastings
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Beautiful! Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and plum, along with a hint of black pepper and oaky smoke. Full bodied, luscious and smooth with soft tannins and medium+ acidity. Berry flavours on the palate are ripe with a hint of tartness, and hints of spice and smoke on a lengthy finish. Tasting the 2013 in 2021, and there is still a long life ahead of this wine. Enjoy with a grilled steak.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Deep, dark inky ruby with soft red reflections. The bouquet continually evolves - always revealing something new. Blackberries, blueberries, figs, toasty with a hint of smoked meat. Flavours are decadent and full, revealing dark plums, cherries, strawberries, cassis, boysenberries, soft cedar wood, vanilla, burnt sugar and roasted nuts. Acidity is high but very well balanced against the velvety, lingering tannins and big peppery finish. This is a big one and will stand up nicely to prime rib and pepper steak. Decanting recommended.
