Cedar smoke, dried herbs and wild blackberry on the nose and palate on this luscious BC red wine made from the classic Cabernet Sauvignon grape. Full-bodied and relatively smooth. Pair with a rare steak and decant for 1-2 hours.

Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Wow! Just Wow! The 2015 Cab Sauvignon from Vanessa Vineyard is a powerhouse; so rich, so pure of fruit and so luxurious on the palate. Produced from 100% estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the winery’s Similkameen vineyard, it’s a snootful of brambleberry jam, full-bodied, with rich and concentrated flavours of ripe black raspberry, black currants, dried figs, super rich dark chocolate (and true to what the back of the label reads “like chewy dark chocolate brownies”) smooth, rich and textured. Tasted December 2022.

Grapes were sourced from the Vanessa Vineyard in the Similkameen Valley from 75 acres of sloped and rocky terrain. Vines thrive in rows of rock and the vineyard is indeed “carved from stone, fuelled by the sun” absorbing the day heat which in turn warms the vines and grapes during the cooler nights. The wine was small batch fermented and aged 20 months in new and second use French oak barrels. Complex, concentrated, beautifully balanced and drinking beautifully now as well, but can easily cellar for another three years.
