A full-bodied, smoky and savoury red wine blend of 60% Sangiovese and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon with concentrated flavours of blueberries, blackberries, earthy florals and dusty herbs. Decant one hour prior to pouring with a rich meaty pizza topped with cheese and more meat, or hold in cellar for another year or two to mellow and marry.

Food pairings: rich tomato and roasted Italian vegetables sauce over penne, beef stuffed tomatoes and peppers.

Reviews and Ratings

Produced by Tommasi, Poggio Al Tufo Rompicollo 2016 is a full-bodied red blend of 60% Sangiovese and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Tuscany wine region. Great value under $20 and a good cellaring candidate for three years. Fragrant with black cherry and spice on the nose with dark berry, currant and smoky oak spice flavours well-integrated on the palate and finishing with vibrant acidity on the palate. Tannins are firm and chewy. - Community Wine Reviews
