From Tokaj Hegyalja, Tokaj Hétszolo, Tokaji Aszú 2010 (500 ml) is product from 100% Furmint at five puttonyos. Puttonyos is a unit of measurement for the level of sugar in Hungarian Tokaji dessert wine . It was traditionally measured by the number of hods of sweet botrytised grapes (Aszú grapes) added to a barrel of wine, but is now measured by the amount of residual sugar in the wine. The puttony measured a 25 kg basket (or hod) of Aszú grapes, so five puttonyos is a very sweet wine with this example balanced by amazing acidity to keep that sweetness in check. Look for dried quince, honey, caramel apples, cinnamon and marmalade on this lovely, sweet and fresh Tokaji.

Tokaji Aszú food pairings: fruit cake, fresh fruit cups. Lemon custard pies, peach cobbler.
