Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Love this! Labelled as Merlot, but has 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet France to enhance the richness and fruit of this wine. Aromas of cherry, plum, and blackberry, with notes of mocha and spice, and just a slight hint of evergreen. Full bodied, smooth on the palate with medium acidity and soft tannins. Fruit notes on the palate are rich and rounded, and the finish of the wine is plush and rich with more mocha and warm spice hints on the finish. Lovely. Enjoy with prime rib.
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Deep purple coloured red wine with pronounced aroma of ripe black fruits; black plum, black raspberry, and black cherry along with blueberry, cocoa, a hint of cinnamon, thyme, and vanilla. This mainly Merlot blend, with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, is dry with medium tannin and medium plus acidity and body with high alcohol. A well balanced wine with fresh fruit flavours tasting a bit more sour on the palate; a lovely wine to sip and savour or serve with the following board: Seed to Sausage Chorizo on olive oil and sea salt baguette crisps; the heat of the chorizo softens and it is absolutely heavenly with the wine. Blueberries bring out the blueberry flavour of the wine, and smoked gouda on rosemary apricot crackers is divine with it ; Edam and Gouda with either of the crackers mentioned are wonderfully creamy with the wine.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A wonderful expression of a Merlot-forward Bordeaux style wine from this Okanagan Valley winery (a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc to add flavour and weight).
Aromas of juicy dark plums, black licorice, vanilla and a hint of eucalyptus carry through to a spicy plum finish. Full bodied with enough acidity to keep this lively and food friendly.
Pair with pizza or hearty beef stews.

A refined wine, the Oldfield Reserve 2018, from Tinhorn Creek, located in the magical Okanagan Valley in Canada, offers aromas of sugarplum, fig, bay leaf, potting soil, cream, vanilla and coffee. Blended from 88% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc, the blend provides good structure, a full body and bold tannins; great for food pairing. The finish is complex and well layered, with flavors of tart plum, fruit cake, bay leaf, leather, incense, cigar box and cedar. Enjoy!
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

BC does Bordeaux! Reminiscent of a right bank Bordeaux (Merlot based), this also has a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cab Franc to add some depth and complexity.
Ripe cherry, menthol, spice and earthy on the nose. Rich mouthfeel and medium/full body. Flavours of sour cherry, black plum and tobacco. Firm tannins and good acidity with a medium/long finish of cherry and cigar box.
Paired with Chicken Parmesan to match the tomato with that nice acidity!

The Tin horn Creek 2018 Oilfield Reserve Merlot is easy to enjoy. Here’s why.

Its pretty aromas like ripe dark berries and currants, sweet herbs and cedar team up nicely with its big, juicy dark fruit flavours. It feels medium to full bodied, warm, bone dry, velvety in texture with a satisfying finish. For me, the vineyard classified this red as Reserve for good reason. It is delicious.

This wine’s blend bill is Bordeaux in character because it features Merlot 88%, Cabernet Sauvignon 15% and Cabernet Franc 3%. Merlot appears on the bottle’s label since it is the primary grape in this creation from British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley appellation. Enjoy.

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Made from 88% Merlot, 9% Cab Sauv, and 3% Cab Franc, this Red from the Okanagan Golden Mile region offers black cherry and plum notes on the nose, along with rose petals, decomposing autumn leaves, cedar, blackstrap molasses, and menthol.

Full-bodied on the palate with cranberry and black cherry notes, smooth tannins, balanced acidity and a sharp finish. This wine is to be enjoyed with food. Try with steak or hearty red meat dishes.
