Reviews and Ratings

Brent Gushowaty rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Eye:
Medium depth, garnet with a bit of brick on the edge

Nose:
Prunes, stewed plums, cedar, pepper pine, mushroom. Later, chestnut, wood barrel, licorice

Palate:
Cherries, earthy, prune, fresh plum. Medium bodied. Fruit is fairly concentrated, savoury, complex, lingering. Still a little tannic grip, more old world style, acidity medium. Tannin has slightly outlived the fruit. Not likely to develop further.

Value Rating:
89

Other Information:
The blend for this vintage was 88% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Syrah. This wine was tasted as part of a three vintage vertical of the same wine along with the 2003 & 2002 versions. Tinhorn Creek experimented with releasing both screwcap and cork versions of their wines in this period. All three vintages tasted in this vertical were the screwcap versions.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
