Vintages Wine Panel: Trophy Winner for Best Wine Under £10 (approximately $15 CDN) at the 2009 Decanter World Wine Awards. It features aromas of coffee, raspberry, spring flowers and earth. Dry with ripe fruit, balancing acidity and just a touch of tannin. My note: Yahoo! What a fantastic wine for the money. Savoury with complexity and dark fruit and a deep woodsy aromas that I adore. Astounding for the price.

Carmenère food pairings: stuffed veal tenderloin and root vegetables.

Reviews and Ratings

Jason Solanki rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Lovely blackberry, mocha, wet earth, flower aromas. Palate has ripe fruit with raspberry at the fore. Dry with a touch of tannin. Medium-bodied. Will pair nicely with the spicy, creamy chicken dish that I will be enjoying tonight.
Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The 2007 Tierra Alta Reserva Carmenère is a medium to full bodied, FRUITY to integrated wine with nice aromas of coffee, prune and green pepper. Tannins are refined to tannic (decant for 30 min) and the finish is medium to long. It is good now, but will get better as it ages; drink 2014-2018. My impression: NICE, 88.5 pts – a recommended buy and a good value for $14. Tasted Sept/11.
