Natalie's Score: 89/100

This full-bodied and balanced Californian Cabernet-based red wine blend is brought to us by 101 Wine Company. It features attractive dark fruit aromas and a chalky dry finish that's a great foil to food. Good tannic grip on the palate so decant 1-2 hours. Finishes with blackberry, mocha and cassis. Pair with rack of lamb.

Food pairings: veal, fajitas, roasted eggplant, meat topped pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The nose on this Cab blend shows blackberry and vanilla with a touch of mint. The palate shows the same plus smoke and herbal touches. Long rich finish.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby red colour with thick legs showing extraction on the glass. This red wine blend is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with aromas and flavours of dark red fruit, raisin, prune, vanilla, pepper and a lift of mint. A little taste of graphite in the mouth. Some drying tannins and medium acidity that plead for grilled red meats. Peaking now. Decant.
Tasted: February 2015
This full-bodied Californian red wine blend is produced by winemaker Matt Dees from declassified grapes grown in the winery's The Hilt and Jonata vineyards. The 2010 vintage of the Red Wine is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Sangiovese and 10% Petit Verdot grapes. - Community Wine Reviews
