Reviews and Ratings

Brent Gushowaty rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Eye:
Garnet on rim and throughout, pale.

Nose:
Berry fruit, chocolate, tobacco, dirt, some mushroom, marionberries, cherries, floral notes.

Palate:
Very silky, supple, liquid cherry, blueberry, game, tannins, very soft with age, still great mouthwatering acidity, body medium minus, Intensity medium, long lingering musroom, dirt, cherry, plum, some stewed fruits. Incredible soft silky mouthfeel yet great structure, built on a an elegant arc of acidity. Very long.

Value Rating: 90

Other Information:
This wine is an unoaked blend of 65% Grenache, 25% Mataro and 10% Shiraz.
Former Torbreck winemaker Kym Teusner and his brother-in-law launched the Teusner venture in 2001 in part to save an old Grenache vineyard owned by the Riebke Brothers. The vineyard contained some of the oldest Grenache vines in the world. It was under threat because of the low prices being paid at the time for Grenache grapes in Australia.

The wines are unfiltered and unfined.

Date Tasted: February 27, 2015
Availability: Brought in for Vancouver International Wine Festival.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
