Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Ruby red and declared 13% ABV. On the nose, showing dark plum, cracked black pepper and black currant. On the palate, blackberry, black currant and graphite minerality. Pair with BBQ grilled red meats, Brazilian kebabs, Montreal smoked meat, or enjoy easily on its own. Tasted 2015 vintage in May 2017. 89 points - BespokeTastings
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Tangy with intense freshly cracked blackpepper aromas, floral notes, and cassis. The palate shows tangy cassis, clove, anise and bitter chocolate notes. Tannins are mild with a smooth texture and a tangy acidity. The finish is long showcasing a pithy peppery finish. I appreciate more stewed black fruit notes and tobacco nuances in Syrahs. This one is overpowered by crack peppercorns. Tasted May 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Paula Bernardino rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Creative winemaker Richard Painter from Villa Maria, New Zealand’s most awarded winery, was named 'Winemaker of the Year' at the 2018 Royal Easter Show Wine Awards. He was in Montreal July 22 to present the Left Field brand coming soon to the SAQ. We got a peak of his wines at the SeaSalt & Ceviche Bar in Old Montreal.

The Syrah from Left Field had smoky aromas and flavours of dark cherries. Paired well with spicy shrimp tacos. Funky creative label. 13% alcohol.
