Natalie's Score: 91/100

A lovely, crisp New Zealand white wine made from the classic Pinot Gris grape. The winery's name comes from the indigenous Maoiri expression "Te Awa o Te Atua" which translates to "River of God" a nod to the underground streams in this region. Aromas of golden apple and fresh Asian pear. Match this with a light seafood dish.

Pinot Gris food pairings: grilled whitefish, fish tacos, pan-fried panfish, grilled chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A gorgeous approachable NZ Pinot Gris with tropical flare. Bartlett pear, green melon, with a hint of unripe pineapple and subtle spice. Complex, accessibly priced, balanced. Paired well with mulligatawny soup. Tasted 2017 vintage in March 2019. 91 points #greatvalue
Te Awa Left Field 2017 is a dry and flavoursome Pinot Gris from Hawke's Bay, North Island with ripe apple, pear, white floral flavours on the palate. The Maoiri name "Te Awa o Te Atua" means "River of God" and refers to the subterranean streams that run under the vineyard. Great acidity for food. Chill and enjoy now with a sautéed pork tenderloin. - Community Wine Reviews
