A gorgeous profusion of hazelnut and green apple brightness on the nose. This is followed by rich, voluptuous layers of tropical fruit and butterscotch goodness. The wine was barrel-fermented and aged 12 months in French oak (20% of which was new) and underwent a partial malolactic fermentation. Available through the winery and Vintages go to market.

Chardonnay food pairings: crab cakes, grilled salmon, seafood and shellfish platter.

Reviews and Ratings

Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The 2011 Tawse Quarry Road Chardonnay has appealing aromas of white pear and subdued oak and vanilla. It is a light to medium bodied, extra-dry, fruit forward wine, with forward acidity and a medium to long finish. It is food friendly, drink now and for the next few years. My impressions: NOTHING SPECIAL, 88-89 pts. Tasted at 'Taste Ontario 2013' http://grapeselections.com/taste-ontario-2013/ in October/13.

Pale straw in colour, this chardonnay has an appealing nose of lemon zest, stoney minerality, and hints of oak. It follows through with a rich palate of lemony citrus, crisp green apple, and a pleasant, pronounced minerality. Long, pleasing finish with lingering citrus zest, wet stone and citrus fruit.
