Fresh and crisp with lime zest and lemon sunshine. Pair with fresh seafood and shellfish. Vintages Wine Panel: The iconoclastic winemakers Charles Smith (a former rock and roll manager in Scandinavia) and Charles Bieler (of Three Thieves) possess dynamic and exuberant personalities that perfectly suit the brilliant artisanal wines they are renowned for creating. Individually they can lay claim to an impressive - and growing - list of viticultural accomplishments. But together? Well, taste for yourself. This 2015 Riesling is delightfully floral with lemon, apple, pear and mineral oil notes throughout. Fresh, crisp and juicy, this will be great with sushi or any fish dish.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This Riesling, offered by the Charles & Charles brand, comes from a patch of earth close to Rattlesnake Hills A.V.A. The grapes were grown at extreme altitudes of 1,500 feet to counterbalance the heat, since Washington summers can be sweltering. Just the right temperature for Riesling means preserving the acidity balance. This one is not particularly sweet, but does have a tiny amount of residual sweetness. The acid keeps it refreshing.
Vivid lemon-yellow with a watery rim.
Juicy aromas of papaya, pear, lemon, nectarine, honeysuckle, brown sugar, and an oily note.
The mouthfeel is fantastic. Full flavoured and bright. More stone fruit, tangerine, honey, and brown sugar. It dances on the edge of dry and not dry.
Great quality behind this wine. Put this alongside swordfish steaks or tuna sashimi with miso soup.
From Washington State's Sutter Home Winery, Charles & Charles Art Den Hoed Vineyard Riesling (2015) is the wine child of winemakers Charles Smith and Charles Bieler. The Riesling is zesty lemon, and a mouthful of ripe apple, pear and finishes with a flinty minerality. Absolutely great with sushi or Thai food. - Community Wine Reviews
