Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Great value. Deeply concentrated. Well structured. Balanced medium plus acidity, high chalky tannins, dense fruit. Blackberry, plum, cedar plank, floral and peppercorn. 95% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot hand picked at 1250m (4100’). Full bodied. Pairs well with roast pork, balsamic infused roast chicken. Tasted 2014 vintage in Dec 2017. 91 points. Great value #crowdpleaser
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Blueberry and cedar on the nose with smoky blackberry and blueberry flavors on the palate. Nice fruit forward finish with grippy tannins. Tasted March 2018.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This wine is almost dusty (in a good way), with crushed plum, black pepper, macerated blackberry, herbs, and sweet earth. Very clean and sensual. 91 points.
Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This rich ruby red Malbec is bottled under the signature label for Susana Balbo. Complex aromas of blueberry, dark chocolate and dried herbs are followed by flavours of juicy berries, cherry, and pepper. Grippy tannins don’t overwhelm the finish. This should be paired with a grilled or roasted red meat like lamb or beef. Tasted September 16, 2018.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

On the nose, this Malbec has ripe, sun-soaked blackcurrant and blueberry aromas, as well as leather, autumn leaves, and dark chocolate. On the palate, there are dark berry flavours, predominantly blackcurrant, with bitter espresso at the finish. This is a full-bodied wine with tannins that are well integrated and has a nice overall harmony. You definitely wants to have this one with food.

Wine-Food Pairing: Barbecued Steak.

Tasted September 2018
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

Beautiful nose of red fruit, chocolate and chalk. Complex, structured wine lots going on here. Cherry, chalk and pepper with lots of tannins.

Pair with dark chocolate, or a meaty beef dish (steak, prime rib) that can stand up to the boldness of the Malbec.

Tasted March 13, 2018
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted Feb. 22, 2018. Colour, dark ruby red. Legs, thick. Aromas and flavours of, plum, blueberry, cherry, tobacco. Taste dry, full bodied, mouthwatering, rich fruit, pleasing tannin, noticeable heat. Finishes with a balance of fruit, tannin and heat. Nice Malbec. Rich taste. I like this wine with food. Grilled pork tenderloin, roast potatoes. Rich stews. Try some dark chocolate with it. Good value Malbec.
From the Uco Valley, Susana Balbo Signature (2014) is a robust red wine blend of 95% Malbec and 5% Petit Verdot with the wine showing blackberry, blueberry and mulberry fruit and a dark spice, smoky nose. The wine was matured in French barriques, 30% of them new, for 13 months. Drink now and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews
