A great full-bodied, smooth Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County, California, lush with ripe blackberry fruit, cassis, cocoa and smoky vanilla flavours on the palate. Intense and nicely done. Pair with a roast leg of lamb.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: grilled meats, slow-braised long beef ribs, pepper steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

An earthy nose with savoury hints eventually giving way to raspberries. Rich, fruity palate with soft, supple tannins. Nicely balanced with a long finish. Serve with steak or rich cheeses. Tasted October 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A minted chocolate nose with a herbal note. Concentrated sweet red fruit on the palate. Fresh acidity makes for a refreshing, slightly leaner style with firm grippy tannins that will give this wine longevity. Balanced with a long blackcurrant finish. Try it with salted rump steak with chimmichurri. @wrightwineblog
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Dense shade of purple black, this stylish and fruit-driven CS yields black cherry plum, and blackberry up front with restrained oak pleasantly accenting the nose. Food-friendly acidity and grippy tannins call for protein, but this isn't prohibitive without food. Ripe and jammy red fruit and dark fruit share the palate and finish with mild oak spice, cinnamon, vanilla, and cocoa. Best from 2021 on. Try with grilled steak or braised lamb.
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A dark, opaque Cabernet Sauvignon with aromas of dark fruit and oak California style- vanilla and smoke. Black cherry and currant on the palates, with a hint of sweetness. Still has tannic strength so at least two more years of aging is recommended.
From Sonoma County, California St. Francis 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is fleshy with ripe blackberry, savoury spice and herb, black olive, dark chocolate and smoky vanilla flavours on the palate finishing smooth and satisfying. Pair with herb-rubbed grilled pork side ribs. - Community Wine Reviews
