Good mouth-watering juicy acidity with balanced richness of black fruit flavours on the palate. Full-bodied and fairly smooth, though 1-2 hours decanting will help. This is a heavy hitter that will surprise and please those who love Californian cabernets. This wine is named after the astral bodies that have long guided sailors and thrilled sky gazers. This is a great price for classic Cali cab. Highly recommended.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: lamb burgers, meatloaf, pork tenderloin.

Drew rated this wine as 60/100 with the following review:

Fruity and unique but too dry a finish
The Southern Cross is the colloquial name for the Crux Constellation, one of the Southern Hemisphere's most distinctive constellations. It was a crucial navigational guide for sailors. Okay, let's get right to the Crux of the matter: this superbly well-priced wine offers impressive aromas of dark cherry, blueberry, cassis and sweet caramel. A spine of acidity provides balance to the great depth of fruit flavour. Source: Vintages Wine Panel, Jan. 2013
