Lots of mocha and on the dark chocolate nose and finish from generous oak aging. Full-bodied and smooth with fleshy ripe black plums on the palate.

Zinfandel food pairings: BBQ ribs and honey mustard coleslaw, grilled pork loin stuffed with stewed cherries.

Reviews and Ratings

Malcolm Lamont - WSET Adv, CSW rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Well balanced with lots of character. Attractive nose displaying chocolate, spice and some red fruit notes. Smooth on the palate with good varietal character and no overload of alcohol. A Very nice wine at $15.
Aromas of red raspberry, sweet leather and rich Lodi soil open up on the nose, with a hint of silky, spicy Mexican chocolate. On the palate, it is full of warm spice and wild strawberry flavours, with layers of brambly raspberry, cinnamon bark, and clove. The complex blend of fruit and spice is well balanced by refreshing, bright acidity. Striking out from today's overblown, high-alcohol Zinfandels, this wine shows true varietal character with restrained alcohol, and lingering fresh cranberry notes.
