Lovely balance in this full-bodied, supple red. Lots of character but not heavy. Dark fruit, smoke with a long finish. A blend of 49.5% merlot, 37.2% cabernet sauvignon and 13.3% cabernet sauvignon. Bordeaux styling with New World power and fruit. Beautifully structured with a long finish.

Cabernet Merlot food pairings: beef skewers, fajitas, steak-topped pizza, black bean soup, hodge-podge.

Reviews and Ratings

Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The 2012 Dover Vineyards Smoke & Gamble Reserve Cabernet Merlot has intense aromas of smoky cherry, forest berries, red currant and raspberry. It is a light to medium bodied, extra-dry, integrated wine, with notable acidity, refined tannins and a medium finish. Drink with food; drink now – 2017. My impression: NICE, 88 pts. Tasted at Taste Ontario http://grapeselections.com/taste-ontario-2013/ in October/13.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
