Gorgeous dark dark chocolate and black plum aromas on the nose, followed by a rich, smooth, full-bodied texture on the tongue: yum! There's some dark berries and dried tobacco notes on the finish. Superb quality for this price point.

Reviews and Ratings

Steve Kubota rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This offering will wake up even the dullest taste buds (a smoker's delight) with it's open, intense aromas of dark plum fruit, big bold and round berry flavours upfront followed with mocha and tobacco accents in the lengthy finish.

Full bodied, almost syrupy in texture... a pit bull that chihuahuas should not mess with.

Zinfandels traditionally do not age well and this one should be enjoyed now through 2015

One disappointment. The price in British Columbia has jumped from $16.49 to $18.99 over the past 15-months.
TASTING NOTES
The 2009 Sledgehammer Zinfandel begins with grapey aromas of
boysenberry, blackberry, black cherry, and a hint of black pepper.
Dark fruit flavors of dried cherry and current, highlighted by strong
tobacco notes, dominate the palate, balanced by soft tannins and some
vanilla highlights from the influence of aging in oak.
