VINTAGE 2007
The 2007 harvest got off to an early start before slowing slightly due to cool fall
temperatures. Even growing conditions soon prevailed, however, allowing for steady
ripening before finishing in late October to vintner accolades.
WINEMAKING
To achieve perfect ripeness with full fruit flavor and balanced acidity, our grapes are
picked in the cool early morning hours. Grapes are gently handled and whole cluster
pressed to preserve true varietal character, then transferred to barrels for fermentation.
All lots undergo malolactic fermentation and are carefully monitored and
frequently tasted until the desired flavor and textural balance is achieved. Aged in
54% new French oak barrels from our favorite Burgundian coopers for up to 12
months before bottling, the wine ages in bottle for an additional six months before it
is released and ready for enjoyment.
WINEMAKER NOTES
Our 2007 Chardonnay is brilliant golden-straw in color with intriguing notes of
spiced apple and rum raisin on the nose. This wine has pleasant weight on the palate
and delivers an intricate balance of tropical fruit flavors and distinctive mineral notes,
reflecting the diverse selection of fruit within the Russian River Valley. The rich
acidity of this Chardonnay lends itself to pairings with Mushroom Risotto, Crab
Cakes, Roast Chicken, and Bouillabaisse.
