Produced by winemaker, John Harris, Shanahans The Barking Dog 2018 GSM is a plushy and fleshy red blend of 67% Grenache, 27% Shiraz and 6% Mataro sourced from old vines up to 70 years of age in the Western Barossa Valley. Fragrant with pink florals, red berry, cherry, sous bois and cedar spice aromas, the wine is dry, full-bodied with layers of dark fruit, bright red berry, dried fine herbs and exotic spices on the palate. The wine was matured in two- and three-year-old 300 and 500 litre oak barrels. Pour with BBQ meats. Drink or hold.

Gsm food pairings: roast duck, partridge, rabbit fricassee.

Reviews and Ratings

Trent Mayers rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Grenache/Syrah/Mourvèdre (GSM) blends are hitting their stride in Australia, particularly in hot regions like the Barossa Valley. It’s full bodied, dry, and filled with lushly ripe sweet red cherry and strawberry packaged up with spice, woody vanilla, and smooth tannins. Decanting makes it better. Grilled sausage (lamb or game suggested), and vegetables will make a memorable pairing.
