As rich on the nose as it is on the palate with rich cherry liqueur, ripe red and dark berries, cake spice, sweet tobacco leaf and savoury herbs. Finishes long and elegant. Decant this Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico for 2 hours prior to pouring with a well-marbled and rich bistecca. Or cellar for five more years. The 2018 Gambero Rosso awarded this wine two glasses our of three.

Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico food pairings: leg of lamb, pasta with tomato sauce, polenta dishes, venison, beef daube.

Reviews and Ratings

Santa Sofia 2012 is a robust, lush and layered Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico. Fragrant on the nose with crush dark raspberries, liquid dark cherry and savoury spice aromas. On the palate, this full-bodied red is layered with dried dark berries, ripe dark cherry, dark chocolate and Christmas cake spice flavours on the palate. Pair with prime rib. - Community Wine Reviews
