Minty black plum aromas on the nose that open to a fleshy seductive richness on the palate. Full-bodied and supple. I like that the fruit doesn't taste sweet but more savoury. Great food wine, and all-round terrific wine for the money. Carmenère is definitely one of Chile's signature red wine grapes, and it shows in this example.

Carmenère food pairings: pizza, T-bone steaks, bison burgers, tomato-based dishes, dark chocolate.

Reviews and Ratings

Great extraction and flavour from the Carmenère signature character in this Chilean red wine. The 2011 vintage was a cool one for the country, which results in wines of greater balance and finesse. The Ammonite featured on the wine label (seashell) appeared 400 million years ago and has been extinct for 65 million, fortunately though, this wine is still around. The fossils of this sea creature abound in the higher Andes Mountains where the irrigation for these vineyards originates. Think minerality. - Community Wine Reviews
