Reviews and Ratings

Gwen Barton rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Generous flavours and aromas of strawberry, and melon with light floral notes rounding out the tasting experience. Gamay and merlot grapes lend their fruity characteristics to this juicy style BC rose. Bright acidity and beautifully refreshing. And oh, how pretty in the glass! Definitely a “go to” summer wine.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Happy Mother's Day 2021!
It's turned out to be a beautiful evening here in the Nation's Captial.

In my glass: Sandhill 2020 Rosé
VQA British Columbia. Predominantly Gamay Noir with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

A deep salmon colour that leads to juicy red raspberries, strawberries, and sweet spices on the nose. Off-dry and playful with a candied quality in the mouth. Watermelon, ruby red grapefruit, minerality, warm alcohol, and licorice Twizzlers linger on the tongue.

Perfect pool party sipper! Pour over crushed ice and sip through a Twizzler straw! (cut each end off a Twizzler)
David Skinner rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Copper pink hue and clean. The nose is plentiful and driven by red fruit . Strawberry, cherry, watermelon, apples and floral notes. Fruit-driven flavours and medium acidity. Raspberry and red fruit supported by citrus accents. A medium-length finish echoing the principle fruit on the palate.

This would pair well with a pomegranate salad and I matched it with a pesto-stuffed Portobello with jalapeños and cheddar. Refreshingly perfect to play with the fat and spice.

Get ready for patio time! Sandhill Terroir Driven 2020 Rosé is fragrant with fresh strawberry, raspberry, peaches and cream aromas on the nose; dry, medium-bodied and vibrant with wild strawberry, raspberry, cranberry, melon, earthy and savoury on the palate finishing crisp with a kiss of pepper spice, briny mineral and soft citrus flavours. Produced from Merlot and Gamay Noir wine grapes sourced from the winery’s South Okanagan Sandhill Estate and Rocky Ridge Vineyards, this is an expressive and beautifully-balanced rosé with lots of character and a perfect pairing to grilled shellfish, prawns in particular. Tasted March 2021.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A fresh and vibrant Rosé from Sandhill Winery. Located in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, this blended Rosé is made from Gamay Noir (65%) Cabernet Sauvignon (38%) and Merlot (35%). The bouquet offers aromas of peaches, strawberries, peonies and white blossoms. Flavours show ripe raspberries, blood oranges, watermelon and sugar snap peas. Fruit forward, but not overly sweet. Perfect to serve well chilled. This will pair nicely with baked brie and teriyaki seasoned stir fry dishes. Enjoy!
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

From BC's Sandhill Winery, this rose is a blend of 65% Gamay Noir and 35% Merlot. At first glance it is a bright salmon in colour with aromas of strawberries, raspberries, melon and candy sweetness. It is medium bodied with mouth watering acidity and has flavours of pink grapefruit, cranberries and a hint of saline minerality that flows into a medium pink grapefruit finish. This will pair well with seafood or salads. Tasted on January 5, 2022.
Janet Holden rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A beautiful coral colour, with aromas of strawberries, peaches, melon, minerality and floral notes. Crisp and refreshing on the palate. This wine is a perfect patio sipper and pairs well with appetizers, grilled chicken and seafood.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Smells like summer in your glass! Melon, nectarine and lime swirl in the glass, transforming into a persistent white cranberry finish.
Perfect with spinach salads or cheese boards.
Tasted April 2021.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Bring on spring! With a new year, come the new releases that have been waiting for us all winter. This latest release of Sandhill rose is just calling to be enjoyed chilled on the patio. Aromas of candied strawberry, lime and orange blossom. Still quite light and dry (leaning to off-dry) on the palate, with vibrant, ripe berry hints, and medium acidity, along with just a hint of a drying, mineral note on the finish freshed up with a touch of lingering citrus. Enjoy with cedar planked salmon or grilled veggies.
Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Stunning coral color. Captivating, vibrant scents suggestive of fresh strawberry and stone fruit – especially nectarines and peaches – plus hints of pink bubble gum. A lovely combination. Delicious strawberry and stone fruit flavours along with pleasing hints of minerality and crisp acidity. Paired beautifully with roasted chicken and root veggies. Enjoy.

Beautiful salmon coloured Rosé with delicate red field berry, cantaloupe, clementine, a savory umami quality and saline minerality.

Dry and medium bodied, the melon and berry notes carry through on the palate qalong with cranberry, mineral notes, and a long grapefruit finish.

Food friendly. Pair well with a charcuterie board or with a mediterranean Mezze platter.

Tasted Nov 2021
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A refreshing and delicious Rosé made by Sandhill, located in Kelowna, BC, offers aromas of strawberry, watermelon, orange peel, pink peppercorn and celery. The 2020 vintage delivers appealing acidity, a short finish and a light body. Palate: cranberry, pink grape fruit, citrus blossom, salt and green tea. Enjoy!
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Deep pink hued dry wine with a pronounced aroma of cherry, lots of cherry, plus strawberry and watermelon; blended flavours of cherry, watermelon and strawberry in the mouth. Paired well with grilled chicken, grilled root vegetables as well as grilled brussels sprouts , peppers and onions. The inherent sweetness in the vegetables brought out by grilling complemented the food friendly nature of the wine nicely. Just add friends for a wonderful afternoon on the patio!
A lovely, fresh, single-vineyard rosé from Sandhill with watermelon, strawberry and mineral flavours on the palate. Delightful, chilled on its own or pour with Caprese salad. - Community Wine Reviews
