The wines from San Pedro's 1865 line come from its own vineyard planted with a specific variety. This medium-bodied Carmenère is savoury and smooth with of rich dark plum and cake spice flavours on the palate. So smooth. Enjoy now and for the next three years.

Carmenère food pairings: venison, ratatouille, rabbit stew, bison steaks.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Aromas of cherry, plum and raspberry. Medium bodied and smooth on the palate, fruit flavours are ripe amd clean. Acidity is medium. A bit of a warm spice on the finish with some dried herbaceous notes. Enjoy with prime rib or a marinated flank steak.
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

A bit of red cherry and plum before typical green pepper and hot pepper move in followed by smoke. On the more vegetal side with good acidity, soft tannins, and a full body. Serve this alongside beef and veggie skewers fresh off the grill.
A great-value medium-plus-bodied Carmenère from the Maule Valley wine region. San Pedro 1865 Selected Vineyards 2016 is a single vintage from the Maule Valley with dark plum, cherry, dark berry fruit, red pepper, savoury herbs and smoky on the palate. Vines average 20-plus years of age and are planted in alluvial soil with angular stones to control plant vigour. - Community Wine Reviews
