This is a towering French red wine from the southern winemaking region of the country. Incredibly awesome price. Aromas of fleshy black fruit, tar, toasty oak and smoke. The vines grow in black slate and schist soil, are old vines, grapes are hand-picked with low yields and dry grown (no irrigation). Pair with lamb and rosemary.

Food pairings: lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

The 2012 vintage of the Saint Roch Cotes du Roussillon Vieilles Vignes is a blockbuster, with firm tannins so decant 2 hours or give it cellar time. Winemaker Jean-Marc has created a French red wine blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah grapes. The wine was matured in 10% new barrels. - Community Wine Reviews
