From the Douro wine region and from one of the oldest estates in the Douro Valley, owned by the descendants of Marquis Nicolas Alexandre de Segur, named the Prince of Wines by King Louis XX of France, this is a great value red, lush with dark plum, berries, savoury herb and spicy flavours on the palate. Needs some time in cellar to show its best. Drink from 20201.

Food pairings: roast chicken, Porchetta, roast leg of lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

finevines90 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Aromatic nose of ripe red fruit, rusticly earthy, sweet spice and leather. Palate is extremely complex with medium+ boldness. Deep red fruit, pepper, earthy, sweet spice and finishes smooth with raspberry. Balancing tannins and good acidity.
"From the Douro wine region, Sagrado 2016 is produced from traditional Douro wine region grapes -- Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. Wine grapes are hand-harvested and trodden by foot in the traditional way and after fermentation, spend up to 18 months in French oak barrels. Look for spiced plum, blueberry and blackberry aromas on the nose and ripe fruit, cake spice and plushy plum flavours with food-friendly acidity on the palate. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
