A juicy, medium-bodied Chianti blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and 5% Colorino. This is a Chianti Lover's wine produced only in the best vintages. The estate-grown grapes are harvested by hand and the wine is aged in a combo of oak, stainless steel and concrete for 36 months. Intense with dark cherry, earthy black olive and wild herbs flavours with firm, fine tannins. Pair with a veal roast stuffed with wild mushrooms.

Chianti Classico food pairings: meat-sauce pasta, meat lovers' pizza, beef stew.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Ruffino's Riserva Ducale Oro Gran Selezione is produced only in the best vintages, a tradition started in 1947 to showcase the finest fruit from Ruffino’s acclaimed vineyards. The 2015 sourced fruit from Ruffino’s Gretole, and Santedame estates in the renowned Castellina subregion of Chianti Classico. First impression shows that classic rustic Chianti Classico bouquet full of cherry, dried fruits, herbs, resinous balsamic notes, wood spice, graphite, and sous bois. Elegant, silky smooth, and beautifully balanced, Ruffino’s Riserva Ducale Oro showcases the best of this storied region in an accessible offering making it great for enjoying regularly with charcoal grilled steaks and also a perfect gift for any wine lover looking for a premium wine that’s ready to enjoy now but also worthy of another decade of aging. Thanks to a half decade of aging already, it’s immediately accessible with its fine softened tannins and fresh acidity making this premium Chianti equally suited for rich dishes such as pasta bolognese or cinghiale in umido (stewed wild boar). Enjoy 2020-2030. Tasted July 2020. 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This is a lovely and special wine, made only in special years. There is a ton of flavour bursting out of the glass, with aromas of black cherry, raisin, graphite, dried sage and tea, along with woodsmoke, hints of forest or underbrush and a touch of leather. Medium bodied on the palate with vibrant acidity, and light, but chalky tannins, and a ton of vibrant fruit on the palate, along with more graphite and spicy hints. Notes of smoke and spice carry through on a lengthy finish. Perfect to enjoy with a roasted leg of lamb or any other rich meat or mushroom dishes.
Ruffino Ducale Oro 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva is a classic from the Tuscany wine region. A full-bodied 85% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and 5% Colorino Chianti blend with vibrant red berries, cherries, sage, rosemary, earthy violets, dried roses and smoke on this vintage. Produced only in exceptional vintages. Tannins are fine-grained. Drink or hold. - Community Wine Reviews
