Natalie's Score: 90/100

A full-bodied, lip-smacking tasty Italian red wine blend of Sangiovese (55%), Merlot (20%) and Syrah (25%) grapes. This Tuscan red wine offers great aromas of tart dark cherry and earth with some smoke. Lots of racy acidity for tomato sauce, lasagna and spicy sausages. Smooth and full-bodied.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Bright ruby red, smooth and well balanced. Ripe red fruit, savoury herb. Medium plus tannins, medium acidity. Pairs well with traditional spaghetti and meatballs. This wine offers a reliable, accessibly priced, crowd pleasing option for Italian IGT lovers. Tasted 2015 vintage in Dec 2017. 90 points.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Il Ducale combines some of the favourite characteristics of Tuscan wines in one affordable bottle for all to enjoy. A blend of 45% Sangiovese, 40% Merlot, and 15% Syrah, it's packed with delicious array of aromas and flavours including dark plum, blackberry, black currant, tea, pepper, clove, and underbrush. Generous dark fruit flavours with dusty textured tannins make this a terrific wine to enjoy with grilled steaks, such as the famous Bistecca alla Fiorentina, or Tuscan pici with lamb ragu. Enjoy 2018-2022. Tasted January 2018. 89 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
