Rustic, robust and very tannic. Aromas of black fruit and toasty oak. This Italian DOCG red wine made from the Sangiovese grape was aged for 2 years in oak barrels. Dark cherry fruit, some toasty oak that's nicely balanced. Tannic grip will smooth out with 1 hour decanting. Pair with a pepper steak or meat lovers' pizza.

Food pairings: pan fried pepper steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Amazing value for a yummy wine. It's simple easy drinking and packs in flavourful cherry and earthy notes. Enjoy with bacon and smoked cheddar BBQ burgers. Tasted Dec 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The Rocca Delle Macie 2018 is a beautiful Chianti, blended from Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, that offers aromas of raspberry, roasted tomato potpourri, leather, cinnamon and sandalwood. The Riserva exposes a medium body, grippy tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is dry and well layered, pairing well with red meat. Palate: strawberry, blackberry, black pepper, leather, mocha, tobacco and sandalwood. Enjoy!
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Wonderful Friday night pizza accompaniment. Medium bodied, dry, mouthwatering acidity. Boasting cherry, forest floor, savoury herb. Tasted 2014 vintage in Dec 2017. 88 points. Good value.
