Reviews and Ratings

Mark Cochrane Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

One of the things I like about wine is it's history and the background on James Oatley and how he went from convict to vineyard owner is interesting to say the least. They produced a bright yellow Chardonnay from Mudgee (85%) & Pemberton (15%) in Australia with a nice aroma of citrus and pear. A long grapefruit finish with some vanilla and minerality makes this crisp chardonnay a nice accompaniment with salmon, lobster or sitting on the back deck eating peel and eat shrimp.
A unique blend of grapes from two sides of Australia’s vast continent: Mudgee NSW and Pemberton WA (85% and 15% respectively).
Our winemakers have cleverly blended a number of parcels with various components undergoing a combination of tank and barrel ferment along with French oak maturation. It’s a terrific example of modern Australian chardonnay, where fruit and texture are the vital components, with oak playing a supporting role. Lovely pineapple and fresh fig flavours, creamy, spicy oak with a touch of vanilla and a long, textured finish.
