Lovely cherry-berry aromas and flavours in this medium-bodied, supple Pinot Noir. A lick of spice at the end makes it a great companion to duck or game meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2012, 13.5%, was grown on alluvial soils. This Pinot from the Signature series shows strawberry and cherry on the nose, along with earthy and slightly spicey notes. On the palate, it is quite fleshy, lightly savoury, with milk chocolate flavours, subtle oak and light tannins. A long chocolate finish makes you smile as you pour another glass. Oatley uses the stalks as well as the grapes in making this wine, but doesn’t let the stalks overpower the fruit flavour. They get the textural effects of oak without strong flavours. Chris suggested trying this Pinot Noir paired with Thai food, which is popular in Australia.
Nick Onischuk - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Robert Oatley Signature Series Pinot Noir 2012 is a lovely light wine with intense flavours and aromas. Cherry, strawberry, raspberry, earthiness and spice on the nose and palate. Love it! Tasted January 16, 2014 (91/100)
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

An elegant light-medium body Pinot Noir. Fleshy strawberry, cherry syrup, plum, underbrush, brown spice, oak ,herbal and mild tannins.
Partially fermented with stems there is a little bitterness on the palate but balanced with red fruit. I would like to taste this Pinot again in a year or two. Enjoy now to 2018.
Winemaker Chris Hancock suggests serving slightly chilled. Pairs nicely with Thai(Royal Thai)foods. Spicy sausage, spicy chicken wings.

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

2012 Robert Oatley Yarra Valey Pinot Noir ($18.95 Vintages 357491, February 1, 2014 release). Strawberry, cherry, oak, white pepper, touch of orange zest. Med-light body, delicate but abundant tannins. Very tasty. Chris suggested pairing this Pinot Noir, slightly chilled, with spicy Thai food. 89 points. Matt Steeves, Quercus Vino January 2014.
REGIONAL WINE YARRA VALLEY, known for quality Pinot Noir. Winemaker Larry Cherubino. Lovely varietal intensity in the wild strawberry and cherry, lightly savoury
spectrum, vibrant and juicy, with gentle French oak influence (from a short maturation in French oak barrels - twenty per cent new.)
