This is fantastic value for this dry Robert Mondavi Fumé Blanc from Napa Valley. Nice nose of lemon pie with riper stone fruit, Meyer lemon, white flowers, gooseberry and a light grassiness on the palate. Dry and medium-bodied, the 2017 vintage has an addition of 15% Semillon. This is a stellar Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon blend, rich with, silky and vibrant with a long finish. Perfect with grilled halibut.

Fumé Blanc food pairings: chicken salad, pork tenderloin, seafood, barbecued lobster.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I really like this wine. It’s a reliable, accessible, well out together Napa Valley Fume Blanc from the god father of Fume Blanc, Robert Mondavi. This wine consistent shows crisp and dry with mouthwatering acidity. Stone fruit, citrus notes, flinty minerality, and integrating alcohol declared at 14.5% for another vintage. This is a complex Sauvignon Blanc well worthy of enjoyment. Pairs well with smoked mackerel, smoked oysters on garlic crustini, seafood Cioppino. Easily drinkable without food likewise. Tasted 2017 vintage in April 2019. 91 points.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This 85% Sauvignon Blanc/15% Semillon is a lovely pale gold in the glass. Opening notes on the nose are herbal and grassy but open to citrus, white flowers. Silky mouthfeel but the oak is lends a fine grit to it. Acid is nicely balanced. Finish is long and a bit austere. Begs for seafood! Tasted Feb 2019.
Robert Mondavi's Fumé Blanc 2017 is a stellar Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, rich with a silky feel on the palate with an addition of 15% Semillon. Nice nose of lemon custard pie with riper stone fruit, gooseberry, steely, toasty flavours on the palate with a lingering smoky finish. - Community Wine Reviews
