A full-bodied, mouth-watering Rioja Crianza (aged 12 months in American oak) with meaty, ripe plum, dark cherry, finishing long with smoky vanilla and cake spice flavours on the palate. Could benefit from another two years in bottle to mellow out a little more. Pair with grilled game sausage.

Crianza food pairings: bison burgers, venison stew, stuffed venison flank.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Lovely, and a great price. Aromas of black cherry, vanilla, warm spice and smoke. Full bodied with structured tannins, and a nice bright hit of acidity to balance the dark fruit, smoke, and spice. Enjoy with smoky grilled sausages, or a marinated flank steak.
Rioja Vega Crianza is a great value, robust and full-bodied A full-bodied 80% Tempranillo, 15% Grenache and 5% Mazuelo red wine blend with flavours of ripe plum, dark cherry, smoky vanilla and cigar spice on the palate. Tannins are firm and the wine could benefit from two more years in cellar. - Community Wine Reviews
