A spectacular Riesling founded by one of Niagara's best producers Tawse. This is the first Redstone Riesling release from the south block of the Limestone Vineyard, a 14-year-old sustainably farmed block on Twenty Mile Bench. The 2012 vintage was warm and it shows in the pure fruit intensity and laser focus of this wine: white peach, lime zest and a deep core of minerality. I am thrilled with this first effort from Redstone, and anxiously look forward to future vintages. Cheers!

Riesling food pairings: scallop ceviche, white fish with mango salsa, salt and pepper shrimp skewers.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A super Riesling from the warm 2012 Niagara vintage creating optimal growing conditions. Concentrated Riesling characteristics throughout - apple, peach, white blossoms, petrol, wet stones, stony minerality. Light and refreshing with medium+ acidity( might say high if this had been my first wine of the day). Good acid to fruit balance. Tawse does it again! A very approachable wine so go ahead and pair with just about anything. Serve well chilled.

Ashley Quesnel rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I loved this wine at first sip! Shows typical Riesling characteristics. Aromas of citrus, fresh apple and petrol. This wine is a delight on the palate with mouthwatering acidity and a slightly chalky minerality. It's off-dry profile would pair particularly well with spicy foods or try it with summer salads with a citrus vinaigrette.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I have totally fallen for this Ontario Riesling by Redstone Winery. As you pour your glass, you get smacked in the face minerality. Once you get past the intense mineral (petrol) aroma, you'll find citrus zest, wild flower honey and ripe stone fruit. The palate does not disappoint. It's just delicious! Flavours of ripe red delicious apple, bartlett pear, honey and bees wax are the most dominant notes. Acidity is high and tasty and the finish is long. Enjoy with spicy Thai shrimp rice rolls. Tasted July 2016. @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
In a warm growing season like 2012, Riesling reached optimal ripeness and exceptional intensity. Lively acidity, sought after to balance the ripe aromatic profile, was ensured by harvesting early.

The nose is intense, dominated by aromatic notes of lime zest and candied orange with a hint of honeysuckle. Citrus notes replay on the palate- think pink grapefruit and lemon curd- balanced by a touch of Asian pear and flinty minerality.

Produced by Tawse Winery from the Limestone Vineyard South, this off-dry Niagara Riesling features peach and pear notes.Lovely aromas of peach, pear and petrol on the nose of this medium-bodied, slightly sweet Riesling. Gorgeous concentration of flavour and minerality. Long finish. Pair with seafood.
